Ensure that Your Assets are Protected
Protect your assets and ensure that your final wishes are carried out by planning and preparing your Last Will and Testament, Durable Power of Attorney and/or an Advanced Care Directive with the help from South Jersey Law Center, LLC. Without proper planning, upon serious illness or death, many questions and contingencies can be left behind. Family will be mourning a loss. One would not want them to also be forced to address uncertainty with how assets and affairs are to be handled.
South Jersey Law Center, LLC can also guide you if you are a decedent’s heir, executor or beneficiary. Documentation must be assembled and provided to the county Surrogates Office in order for estate assets to be properly addressed. Joint property, safe deposit boxes, vehicles, real estate, trust property and other assets require different documentation and procedures prior to their availability and distribution. Some assets, such as life insurance, pass outside of probate. A decedent’s state and federal personal, inheritance or estate tax returns may be required. If your parent died without a Will, an administrator must be appointed for the estate prior to certain asset distribution. A bond or accounting might be required.
